The Author

Kathy was the second youngest in a family of six kids with three older brothers, an older sister and a younger brother. She grew up in an east side suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio in the 50’s and 60′s.

Kathy graduated from The Summit Country Day School where she loved sports, especially field hockey and softball.

From The University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida Kathy graduated with a double major in History and Geography and played on the women’s softball team as a left fielder and pitcher. She followed that with graduate school at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio leaving with a Masters Degree in Geography. The classes in climatology, geography and geology really paid off when she started accumulating ratings as a pilot. She is a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI,CFII,MEI) as well as an Air Transport Pilot (ATP) and Certified Dispatcher.

As proud as she is of her ratings and degrees, nothing compares to the pride she has for her two children, Katie and Wes. They have inspired her to do things she never thought possible. Katie lives in Cincinnati with her husband Chris and two children, Nolan (you will meet him in the book) and Hadley who was born on Halloween 2012. Wes is a professional golfer and lives in Cincinnati as well.

Kathy now calls Charleston, SC home with her husband Rick (also a pilot) and dog Baron. There are an abundance of great golf courses in the lowcountry and great flying weather. She also gets to spend time in Montana fly-fishing, hiking, skiing and flying to beautiful backcountry airstrips.

This book was presented to Katie and Chris when baby Hadley arrived on Halloween!! How Awesome!!
